Restoration of Pirafat Temple Site in Qeni Village
This year, with support from the ALIPH Foundation, Nadia’s Initiative restored the Pirafat Temple site in Qeni village. The project safeguards one of Sinjar’s most important Yazidi sacred sites while ensuring it endures as a dynamic hub for remembrance, healing, and cultural continuity.
The restoration included a multi-purpose, solar-powered event hall, an outdoor amphitheater, a communal courtyard, a dignified memorial stone to honor the victims of the Yazidi genocide, and the planting of 100 native trees.
The project preserves heritage, honors those lost in the genocide, and creates a sustainable gathering place for religious and cultural life for future generations.
