Preserving Yazidi Religion and Culture

Yazidism is an ancient monotheistic religion recognized for its prayer rituals, belief in reincarnation, and the central role of the Peacock Angel, Tawusi Malek, as a messenger to the Yazidi God.

Due to these unique and often misunderstood religious beliefs, Yazidis have been subjected to violence and discrimination throughout history.

It is critical that Yazidis are able to freely embrace their unique culture and religious practices in order to counteract the process of genocide, preserve their heritage, and restore their community.

On this World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, learn more about the unique culture of Yazidism and its religious practices.
