Nadia's Initiative Celebrates International Day of Education

Today, on International Day of Education, we recognize how access to education facilitates more equitable, peaceful, and just societies. In the aftermath of ISIS’ genocide against the Yazidis, many students were left without access to education. At Nadia’s Initiative, we believe education is a human right. We recognize the vital role education plays in the long-term redevelopment and healing of communities recovering from genocide. That is why we work to build, rehabilitate, furnish, and reopen schools throughout the Sinjar region to enable access to education for child returnees and create the conditions for a sustainable return home for those still displaced.

Nadia’s Initiative is proud to have invested in dozens of schools throughout Sinjar. Access to education provides students with the knowledge and opportunities to become peacemakers, changemakers, and advocates for themselves and their communities.
