French Officials Tour Yazidi Genocide Memorial and NI Women’s Center in Sinjar

Nadia’s Initiative was honored to welcome H.E. Mrs. Isabelle Rome, the French Ambassador-at-Large for Human Rights, and Consul General Jean-Christophe Augé during their recent visit to Sinjar, where they toured the Yazidi Genocide Memorial and NI’s Women’s Center.

Their visit is a powerful reminder of the importance of international solidarity in the ongoing pursuit of justice, healing, and recovery for the Yazidi community. As the Yazidi people continue to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of genocide, the presence of human rights leaders affirms the global responsibility to remember, respond, and act.

Since its opening in 2023, the Yazidi Genocide Memorial has become a central landmark of remembrance and advocacy, drawing daily visitors from across the region and the world – including official delegations, survivors, and victims’ families.

At the NI Women’s Center, the delegation met with local staff and community members engaged in programs focused on women’s empowerment and economic recovery. The Center has quickly become a transformational space of healing and opportunity for women and girls in the region.

We are deeply grateful to Ambassador Rome and Consul General Augé for their support and their continued commitment to human rights.
