2022 Fragility Forum: Lessons Learned from Rebuilding the Yazidi Community

Nadia’s Initiative contributed its expertise on human-centric approaches to development to the 2022 Fragility Forum, underscoring the lessons learned through rebuilding the Yazidi community in Iraq.

Abid Shamdeen, Executive Director of Nadia’s Initiative, and Olivia Wells, Director of Programs and Partnerships, joined the dedicated podcast for this yearly event organized by the World Bank, to outline the struggles faced by the Yazidi community due to various types of daily security concerns and lack of access to basic resources needed for their livelihoods.

The discussion highlighted solutions for tackling these pressing issues that pose obstacles for rebuilding the lives of Yazidi genocide survivors that were destroyed by conflict and violence, with an onus on sustainable livelihoods and resilience in order to eliminate the contributing causes of insecurity.
